The Beyond Measure Open Weekend 2018 - Special Guests

I'm so delighted to be welcoming my special guests to the Beyond Measure Studio this weekend!

Please note that not everybody will be here all weekend but I'm sue there will be enough to keep you happy, whatever day you come!

On Friday and Saturday, we welcome Tillyflop Designs!

TillyFlop designs is where yarn and graphics meet … it's a range of greeting cards, textiles, temporary tattoos, prints, bumper stickers, air fresheners and wrapping paper that celebrate knitting and stitching with gentle humour and a strong design aesthetic!  The brains behind it all is Julie Nelson-Rhodes and she'll be here to chat all things knitting and yarn.  You will not fail to find the perfect affordable gift for your textile loving pals!

On Saturday only we welcome Faberwood fabrics!

Based in Sheffield, Fiona opened her online shop Faberwood about the same time as I started Beyond Measure so we've seen our businesses grow together.

Faberwood is a fabric shop with a difference and all the fabrics are rather special. Sourced responsibly from small scale producers around the world, you won't find this selection anywhere else! Fiona has a wonderful eye for designs that are just a bit out of the ordinary but also very wearable. And the quality is fantastic - I can personally vouch for that.

So come and meet Fiona and get a good feel of all these beautiful textiles. I'm sure you'll be tempted!

Fiona will be there Saturday only from 10am - 5pm.

On Friday and Saturday and Sunday (TBC) we welcome Jenni Smith Studio

Jenni Smith Sews is a studio based in a historic mill in the centre of Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Their aim is to share the love of sewing and the endless possibilities of cloth and thread. Jenny and Kay teach studio classes in dressmaking, quilting and textile art and Jenni is a regular on the Sewing Quarter TV channel.

Jenni and/or Kay will be with us Fri and Saturday (Sunday TBC). They'll be selling the Riley and Hepworth Sewing Patterns as well as Jenni's new Aurifil Threads collection for dressmakers. They will also be offering a sewing clinic to help you overcome any sewing hurdles, so bring along any problem projects and they will be happy to help...

Meet Wendy Ward on Friday

After working as a designer in the fashion industry for seven years, in 2007 Wendy began teaching dressmaking and pattern cutting in Brighton and in 2012, she opened MIY Workshop in central Brighton where she has a busy timetable of teaching dressmaking and pattern cutting.

Wendy is a regular contributor to Love Sewing magazine and has published three bestselling books and the MIY range of sewing patterns.

An advocate of sustainable fashion having worked for a fair trade organic cotton brand for four years, Wendy is passionate about empowering people to create their own style, interpret fashion in their own way and re-connect with the joy of making.

Wendy will be here on Friday from 11am. She'll be bringing some of her patterns and accessories to sell, as well as signing copies of her fabulous books! These would make fantastic presents for anyone into sewing and are ideal beginners books too.

On Friday only say hello to Claire Louise Hardy, aka The Thrifty Stitcher!

And last but not least, visiting us on Friday will be Claire-Louise Hardy, aka The Thrifty Stitcher
Claire Louise was the Sewing Producer and Mastermind for The Great British Sewing Bee and the produced the accompanying book of patterns.

Some of her research work was featured as part of the Balenciaga Exhibition at The V and A Museum last year.

A Professional Stitcher with a passion for teaching beginners to sew, she now has a studio in London and has just launched her own range of patterns.

Come and meet Claire-Louise and pick her sewing brains from 11am on Friday, when she'll be hanging out in my studio!

We can't wait to meet you!  Make sure you check out all the essential information about times, directions etc.

Grace x
