Some people seem to be born with an 'eye for colour' but for many, choosing colours is a struggle. However, creating beautiful colour palettes is a skill that can be learned. In this lovely book, textile designer, embroiderer and blogger, Karen Barbé, guides you through two different dimensions of the world of colour and explains their distinct ways for creating colour palettes.

The first relies on colour theory concepts and the second delves into colour sensitivity as a means of training the eye for spotting colours in everyday life, as well as memories and associations, and learning how to extract and integrate them in a fresh and original palette.

Inspirational photographs are accompanied by stitching illustrations and step-by-step photographs for the colour choosing process as well as stitching projects. Five stitching projects provide an opportunity to put learning into practice.

Although the palettes are based around DMC colours, the theory can be applied to any threads you choose to use.
