Cohana Sakura Cherry Wood Box With Glass Pins
This gorgeous box made of cherry wood is part of Cohana's Sakura 2021 range; it celebrates cherry blossom season. The rectangular box contains 20 pretty pink and yellow glass headed pins. It is fastened with a rubber sash finished with a Mizuhiki knot.
The Mizuhiki knots are made by Kinoshita Mizuhiki in Ida City. Mizuhiki is a traditional Japanese art form made from a special cord which is made from starched rice paper - this is then painted or wrapped with silk or plastic to add colour. It was originally used as a form of gift wrapping and each type of knot has a special meaning.
The pins are made in Hiroshima and are smooth and sharp.
The cherry wood box is made by Daiwa Sangyo based in Takatori town. They use traditional techniques to produce wooden boxes. It has the Cohana logo etched on the base.
The box measures 38 mm x 18 mm x 53 mm.
The pins measure 37 mm and are 0.5 mm thick.
