We think these are the most beautiful stitch rippers you will find! Made to an exclusive design for Beyond Measure, they have a turned wooden handle, an antique style brass fitting and removable/replaceable blade. There is no plastic involved at all!

The handles are turned individually in the UK so will vary slightly, but the wooden part measure about 3 inches (7.5 cm) long, so nestles nicely in your hand. The blades can be removed easily for storage or to be replaced when blunt.

Each seam ripper comes with one blade, a storage bag and blade storage tin which is also handy for needles and other bits. Spare blades also available.

Total length with blade is about 5 inches (12.5 cm).

Wood options:

Yew is a very silky wood to the touch and is a varying warm honey colour. It sometimes has a slightly swirly grain or knots.

Oak is a slightly darker wood which mellows beautifully. It has a distinctive grain and slight texture to the surface.

Cherry is a smooth wood with a warm mid colour and a variegated grain that sometimes contains darker tones.

Walnut is a dark rich wood with a tight grain.

Holly a lighter wood with a close grain and cooler tone and modern look

Apple is a smooth pale tone, close-grain wood, sometimes with tiny pits or knots.

Wood is a natural material so each handle will be unique and will be slightly different to those pictured.

Handle made in the UK, blade is from Japan.

Stitch cutter and its wooden handle.

Loved the stitch cutter and its wooden handle. Would have liked a cap to cover & protect the cutter when in the handle.

. . .where function meets form. . .

Truly a pleasure to work with and clearly made with care. The character of the yew handle is easy on the eye and inspiring in itself. Blade installed, where function meets form, the balance is just right.

Oh, joy!

I chose the oak seam ripper because I like the thought of oak in my hand but it was difficult to choose between all the different types of wood handle, all were very appealing. I am glad to have something larger than the usual seam ripper to hold as I am beginning to find it difficult to grasp things with my fingers tightly curled round and this is very comfortable and sits well in the palm of my hand. The blade is sharp and fine enough to slip under the stitches easily. I reckon over the years I have spent more than it costs to buy one of these on various seam rippers and this one has soul and will see me out. The replacement blades are easy to put on.
