Cohana Sakura Wooden Pincushion with Glass Headed Marking Pins
This beautifully presented gift set is part of Cohana's Sakura 2021 range which celebrates cherry blossom season in Japan. It includes a sweet wooden pincushion that can be worn around the neck, alongside a set of three hand made cherry coloured marbled glass marking pins.
The pincushion is made is made from fragrant hinoki cypress from the Kii Mountains and the fabric is pink silk. The pincushion comes with a leather thong so it can be worn around the neck whilst sewing.
The glass marking pins look like small marbled lollipops and are handmade with care, one-by-one by Plants Beads Works, established in Kokubunji, Tokyo in 2011.
They are based on Ohajiki, which is a game similar to marbles but using glass discs. The glass components are heated in the flame from a burner and carefully shaped. They are then applied to a smooth steel pin (made in Hiroshima, an area famous for their production).
Packed in a cardboard presentation box.
Pincushion diameter: 33 mm, height: 35 mm.
Pins are 37 mm long and 0.5 mm wide.
