Cohana Wooden Pincushion with Glass Bead Marking Pins Gift Set
This beautifully presented gift set from Cohana includes a sweet wooden pincushion that can be worn around the neck, alongside a set of three hand made glass marking pins.
The pincushion is made is made from fragrant hinoki cypress from the Kii Mountains and the fabric is Banshu weave, a yarn dyed fabric produced in the North Harima region of Hyogo Prefecture. The pincushion comes with a leather thong so it can be worn around the neck whilst sewing.
The glass marking pins are handmade with care, one-by-one, using Japanese tombo-dama techniques. The floral designs for these tombo-dama are called "millefiori," meaning "a thousand flowers." The glass components are heated in the flame from a burner and carefully shaped. They are then applied to a smooth steel pin (made in Hiroshima, an area famous for their production.
