Description:Goldwork embroidery is one of the oldest embroidery embellishment techniques there is. During this workshop you will be guided through a variety of beautiful and intricate Goldwork techniques using an array of different types of Goldwork threads to create your own unique piece of art.
All the techniques you learn in the session can be applied to any cloth, this technique would be perfect applied to a gift for an extra special touch, this workshop is perfect for those studying textiles, costume or fashion. All embroidery levels welcome but some basic embroidery skills will be required.
Goldwork is an embroidery process and a great way to keep calm and reduce stress levels so come and enjoy the meditative wonders of the process of Goldwork embroidery.
Elnaz Yazdani is an embroidery artist and educator based in Yorkshire. Elnaz is dedicated to sharing her skills and promoting the importance of embroidery as an art form for the future and for wellbeing.
Elnaz has taught embroidery within higher education for over 5 years and teaches fashion, costume and textile students.
Her embroidery teaching has enabled her to teach skills across her community, within primary and secondary education settings.
Tools & Materials -
Each participant will be provides with a goldwork starter kit (worth £15, included in the price of the workshop).
Also please bring any of the following that you have but spares will also be available at the venue to borrow:
Embroidery needles (Crewel, Chenille and Beading Needles)
Some embroidery thread and cotton hand sewing thread
Fabric square to work onto, plain or patterned, natural fabrics work best for beginners, try a cotton, wool, denim or linen, avoid stretch fabrics.
A pair of good embroidery scissors
An embroidery hoop or frame.
A pencil and fabric marker pen if you have one.
- Parking is available on site or on the main road – further transport details on booking.
- Please bring your own packed lunch if required – tea, coffee and cake will be provided with vegan/gluten free options available.
- We will be working in a well ventilated space – please wear layers.
We will be reviewing the Covid -19 situation and following any Government recommendations to keep us safe. We reserve the right to contact participants with further safety requirements if we feel they are needed.
You may cancel your place and receive a full refund up to 14 days before the start date of the workshop. To cancel you must email email@example.com Cancellations after 14 days before the start of the course will only be refunded if we can fill your space on the course. You will be refunded after the course date.
If we need to cancel the course for any reason, participants will receive a full refund within 7 days of receiving the cancellation notification. We cannot cover any other expenses incurred, such as travel or accommodation. Please contact us if you have any questions.
