We are delighted to present these beautiful Winter Goddess kits from Calderdale artist Ginger Becky (Rebecca Wann), exclusively available from Beyond Measure.
They contain all you need to create a beautiful hand stitched figure - Silvie (brown linen, white hair) or Juniper (pale natural linen, red hair). Embroider the linen panel using Becky's detailed instructions, then cut out and sew to create a beautiful little goddess.
Says Becky of her inspiration:
Winter goddesses Juniper and Silvie are decorated with symbols that are associated to this time of year and are rich in the meanings of love, peace, protection and the continuity of life. The mistletoe has been used over history to symbolise love, friendship and protection. The dove found in the hair of the winter goddess symbolises peace. The moon appears in lots of wintery imagery as winter solstice brings long nights. I find the moon a very comforting and grounding symbol of the cycles of time. Evergreens are hopeful symbols of the continuity of life. The swirling shape reminds me of trees on cold windy days and was inspired by Gustav Klimt’s painting ‘The Tree of Life’
