Join artist Saima Kaur for a day of exploring ideas and techniques to create your own mini hand embroideries. The workshop will include simple drawing exercises, techniques for transferring images onto fabric and ways to embroider with clarity and quirk. By the end of the workshop, you will have a series of fantastically fabulous mini embroideries and ready to embroider designs. Basic hand embroidery skills required. Please let us know if you have any mobility or visual difficulties.
Materials: All materials will be supplied but you are welcome to bring your own basic embroidery kits and any favourite threads or tools. You will also be provided with one mini frame per participant.
Saima Kaur is an artist and educator specialising in Indian hand embroidery. She has an MA in Museum Studies and worked in the arts and museums sector for 10 years before starting her freelance work. She now runs a range of community hand embroidery workshops, delivers talks and workshops on Phulkaris and creates her own artwork inspired by this textile tradition.
- Workshop runs 10am to 2pm with a short break.
- Parking is available on site or on the main road – further transport details on booking.
- Please bring your own packed lunch if required – tea, coffee and cake will be provided with vegan/gluten free options available.
- We will be working in a well ventilated space – please wear layers.
We will be reviewing the Covid -19 situation and following any Government recommendations to keep us safe. Staff will be required to take a lateral flow test before the workshop and we ask that you would do the same if possible. You may wear a mask if you like and we have accessible hand washing facilities and toilets. The space will be well ventilated and there will be opportunity to take breaks outside if the weather is dry. We reserve the right to contact participants with further safety requirements if we feel they are needed.
You may cancel your place and receive a full refund up to 14 days before the start date of the workshop. To cancel you must email firstname.lastname@example.org Cancellations after 14 days before the start of the course will only be refunded if we can fill your space on the course. You will be refunded after the course date.
If we need to cancel the course for any reason, participants will receive a full refund within 7 days of receiving the cancellation notification. We cannot cover any other expenses incurred, such as travel or accommodation. Please contact us if you have any questions.
