TAUKO Magazine is a pioneering independent print publication for home sewists around the world. The vast horizon of crafts, culture and climate is featured in sewing patterns, interviews, columns, articles, tips and recommendations by international contributors.
TAUKO Magazine No. 5 is all about soft and comfy wool! The issue features essays of local wool production in Europe and portraits textile artists working with indigenous sheep herds in Denmark and the US. Making use of soft jerseys, wool, padded cotton and linen the sweaters, coats, trousers and dresses come with many variations for differently skilled sewists. All patterns come in 9 sizes from bust width 31” / 78cm to 57.5” / 146cm.

Tweed Bundle - Custom Made For You
I’ve bought all issues bar one of Tauko (sportswear wasn’t my bag) and can find at least two patterns I’d like to try from each edition. From Tauko No17, I like Sukaria and Dia and the piece on pin tucks by Raphaëlle Bonamy was extremely helpful so shall try this technique. I’m always delighted with the service from Beyond Measure and am very happy to order from this brilliant business in the North.
Daruma Yokota Sashiko Thread Fine colours are beautiful and the thread lovely to work with. Good price and delivery. Really pleased with my purchase.
I love this book- and I’ve already made 2 projects. It’s a self care book- a feel good book and I love that Ethos. The instructions are well written too, so easy to follow. I’ve used fabric from my stash for the Boxy Pouch and the basket. I use them to keep my HRT and supplements in- sticking to the theme of menopause and self care . And I found a beautiful silk scarf on Vinted for £3 so I’ll use that for the eye mask, so that’s my next project. And I’m excited to make the cover up, I have some gorgeous fabric just waiting for it. Thank you to Kay and Jenny for writing a book I didn’t know I needed.
Update: I didn’t realise that the cushion is loose so you can embroider on it, then you permanently attach both pieces. I must have missed those instructions, & I don’t have them anymore. I do like that I have a pin cushion close by so I can quickly & easily change out my embroidery needles. Thank you for letting me know that I can embroider the cushion then permanently fit it to the wooden piece.
