Blueprints for Sewing - Cabin Top/Dress paper pattern
Blueprints for Sewing patterns are simple, flattering, comfortable, and classic with an artistic edge. They emphasize functionality and simplicity and feature thoughtful embellishments and adaptable cuts. Each pattern takes its inspiration from an architectural style.
For those new to sewing, each Blueprints pattern is a mini sewing lesson, introducing techniques that help to make fine, detailed sewing easier. For more experienced sewists, every pattern spotlights one or more techniques that can be applied to other projects with fabulous results.
Blueprints are designed to facilitate a variety of common fitting adjustments – not just length like conventional sewing patterns. Though they provide methods for fine tuning, they can also be sewn up without adjustment with great results!
Cabin is an easy, comfortable, and flattering top, tunic or dress with french darts, kimono sleeves, and a back yoke. Either version can be finished with bias facing or binding around the neckline, sleeves, and hem.
Version 1 is a shirt that ends at mid hip with a centre back pleat for a swingy silhouette.
Version 2 is a tunic that hits at mid thigh and includes ‘weltless’ pockets, a design that creates the look of a single welt pocket with a fraction of the effort and only one pattern piece. It can also be made with darts instead of a back pleat.
Version 3 is a dress that hits right above the knee and swaps the back pleat for darts, but it can also be made with the back pleat. The back pleat can be embroidered with a variety of cabin designs that you can download here, your own design, or left unadorned.
Contains all sizes from 32” to 50” bust.
Printed on thin white pattern paper that can be pinned easily.
