Dropcloth Sampler - Paisley
Dropcloth Samplers are designed by US based textile artist Rebecca Ringquist. A dropcloth is something that is not too precious; you can get messy and experiment without worrying about making mistakes.
The Paisley Sampler is a densely drawn design, so you can really go for it with texture and colour, or limit yourself to a more subdued palette for a totally different look. Use running, back or chain stitch for the outlines and add interest with knots and other textural stitches.
Instructions aren’t included but can be found in most embroidery books, in Rebecca’s online classes, or why not get a friend to show you?
Includes one sampler, printed in black. You can use any perle cotton or embroidery floss for your sampler – a great way to use up old scraps! Or try some of our Paint Box Threads!
For best results, Rebecca recommends backing this fabric with a second piece of fabric (cotton or linen) before placing your fabric in the hoop. You’ll get the flattest, most even stitches this way.
