These beautiful ceramic needle minders draw on the traditional skills and materials of Japan that we have come to expect from the gorgeous Cohana brand.
The magnetic needle rest will keep your sewing needles safe and close to hand during your projects. You can use the bottom of the needle minder to pick up dropped needles, or use as a paperclip holder on your desk, or as a magnet to hold memos and photos.
Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, blessed with good clay, is one of the leading Kawara (Japanese traditional roof tiles) producing areas in Japan. The needle rest is created with the Awaji's rich clay and by the skilled artisans at Irakato. This is made in the same way as Awaji Kawara roof tiles which are moulded, glazed and fired. The minders have a smooth, glossy glaze on the rustic texture. Two colours are available: gentle "White" and chic "Gray”.
Dimensions: 27 mm diameter. Each needle minder comes gift-boxed.
This is a mini version of the Awaji Kawara Magnetic Needle Rest with Needle Polisher but without the needle polishing function - it is a magnet only.

This magnetic needle rest is a joy to have and use. No more scrabbling around to pick up a skinny needle on the flat surface of the table.
This purchase is actually for my sister-in-law, a keen sewist with an upcoming birthday, I was so pleased with mine I thought she would love one too.
