This beautiful Sashiko Kit from Cohana makes a stunning gift and a very special set for beginners or those who are more practiced in the craft.
It contains:
Linen cloth x 1 in white or grey, 50 cm x 50 cm
Sashiko thread x 1 contrasting card
Sashiko needle x 1
Tassel charm x 1
Instructions in Japanese & English
The fine linen cloth is woven by artisans in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, which has a great reputation for its textile quality and heritage. It is fine to stitch and the needle will glide through with ease.
The stitch patterns are printed on the linen cloth with special ink that disappears with water. The overlapping circles of the Japanese traditional pattern “Shippo Tsunagi" symbolise happiness, harmony, and connections. The design is believed to bring good luck.
The carefully selected Sashiko thread is made of cotton dyed with natural plants to contrast with the cloth. The kit also includes a handmade tassel with a tiny handmade Temari ball charm - a perfect finishing touch!
Available in grey or white fabric kits.

I love the simplicity of Sashiko and the history of the stitches.
This is my first time doing this type of embroidery and I am certainly slow stitching’ it.
I will send a photo when completed.

I love pretty much anything published by Laine, they have outdone themselves with this issue however.
Immediately on flicking through I bookmarked three 'must knits' and really enjoyed the article on Satu Rämö too ( if you've not read her novels now is a very good time to start).
Really enjoying this card deck, is helping improve my granny square skills. Instructions are clear, easy and fun!
These are the most beautiful Cohana sciossors I now have in my collection! The colour of a camelia blooming in the snow with the white leather case and silver sparkly star is the most beautiful of them all!
I have used a few of these threads for my sashiko and pleased every time with the results . Although fine , even using them single stranded , the colours pop out against the fabric. They feel so smooth when stitching with them . They arrived quickly too.
This thread looks beautiful on the fabric and fills so well. Would love to have more choice of colours.
