Cohana Mini Masu Pincushion
- Worldwide Shipping Available
These tiny pincushions from Cohana take miniature to a whole new level!
Based on the Japanese masu, or wooden measuring box, they have a 1,300-year history. Originally used as a measure for rice, masu boxes are now more commonly used to serve sake. They are a symbol of good luck and happiness.
Made from Cypress wood, these tiny boxes are traditionally made by Ohashi Ryoki in Ogaki, Gifu prefecture and turned into miniature pincushions. Dovetail joints are carefully cut and glued to securely hold the shape of the box. The fabric on the pincushion is a high-quality linen woven in Hamamatsu and each piece is finished with a matching handmade glass headed pin.
Each pincushion measures just 15 mm (0.6 inch) square and is attractively gift boxed.
