Cohana Glass Sewing Pins in a Cherry Wood Box

This gorgeous rectangular box made of cherry wood contains 30 pins with pretty colour-coordinated, translucent and opaque glass pinheads. They come in 5 colours: yellow, pink, teal, blue and grey.
The pins are made in Hiroshima and are smooth and sharp.
The cherry wood box is made by Daiwa Sangyo based in Takatori town. They use traditional techniques to produce wooden boxes. Each one has the Cohana logo etched on the base.
The box is fastened with an elastic band decorated with a lovely floral shell button. These are made by Tomoi in Kawanishi Town, Nara Prefecture. This area is the largest producer of shell buttons in Japan. The six rivers that flow through the town brought boat transportations from Osaka, and shell button manufacture became an important source of income for people in this town especially during the agriculture off-seasons. Tomoi was founded in 1913.
The box measures 38 mm x 18 mm x 53 mm.
The pins measure 35 mm and are 0.5 mm thick.
