Stitch this stunning design by artist Madeleine Kemsley with our unique embroidery kit.
The kit was born from a collaboration between Beyond Measure and John Arbon Textiles, who spin beautiful wool yarn in deepest Devon. In order to showcase the stunning wool and silk Seafarer range of laceweight yarns (with each colour named after a mythical water beast), Cornwall based artist Madeleine Kemsley was commissioned to create a unique design that reflected the story of the threads.
The motif is inspired by tales of the Hippocampi, the mythical sea creatures of ancient Greece that pulled the chariot of Poseidon. Using just 3 simple stitches, Madeleine’s elegant linear design is brought to life by the rich and shimmering colours of the John Arbon Textiles Seafarer yarns.
After stitching, you can frame your fabric panel or turn it into a simple wall hanging or accessory of your choice.
This kit is suitable for beginners as well as more seasoned stitchers.
Suggested age 12 plus.
Kit contains:
- 4 x 10g skeins of John Arbon Laceweight Seafarer yarn (90% British wool, 10% Mulberry Silk, colours Namazu, Pisces, Melusine and Kappa)
- A pre-printed 100% Lithuanian linen panel (size 37 x 52 cm, image size 23 x 33 cm)
- A high quality chenille needle from Japan
- A wood and metal needle threader

You will also need:
• A 7-or 8-inch (18 – 21cm) embroidery hoop (available here)
• A small pair of sharp scissors
• Some standard sewing thread or paper/masking tape to secure the fabric edges (optional)
