This beautiful cotton stitching thread from Maito Design Works is carefully hand-dyed at their workshop in Akizuki, Asakura, Fukuoka using dyes extracted from plants and trees.
The resulting colours created by plant dyeing are a combination of various factors such as the amount of dye, temperature, nature of the water, time of collecting plants and the environment in which they have grown up.
Although these are more 'solid' than the variegated version, there is still a gentle variation in the depth of colour throughout the skein that only hand dyeing can produce.
The thickness and strength is suitable for all kinds of stitching, and is especially recommend for kogin and sashiko stitching. The thread can also be used for weaving, crochet, tassels, papercrafts etc.
