Now re-printed as a softback edition!
Brimming with artistic inspiration and filled with patterns for gorgeous knitwear and joyful pieces for the home, this creative and original book invites you to step inside Dee Hardwicke's world. Illustrated throughout with beautiful watercolours and painterly photography, The Knitted Fabric brings the pages of Dee's sketchbooks to life. As Dee explains, “I find the process of knitting very similar to painting, with each stitch being a brushstroke of colour. As stitches loop together, they create a knitted fabric, a kind of narrative of art, making and the people and landscapes that inspire me”. Just like the designs within it, this unique book is something to treasure.
Dee Hardwicke is an artist, designer and knitter whose work is inspired by her passion for colour and by her love of the British landscape. Dee's designs have been used in exclusive collaborations with partners including the National Trust and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Her previous knitting books include A Story in Yarn: How to Design and Knit an Intarsia Heirloom Quilt (Quail Publishing, 2016) and several titles with leading British yarn producers and designers Rowan. Each design begins life in her sketchbooks.

This is a beautiful, colourful book. In addition to the patterns, Dee has shared images of her artwork, sketchbook and inspiration for her designs. Although there are 20 patterns listed in the book, in the Notes and Thoughts section Dee shares some ideas of how the patterns for wraps and throws can be customised, which provides options for both knitters, and wearers. All of the colourwork charts can be adapted, and used to create garments, cushions and throws by both new, and experienced colourwork knitters. In Dee’s words it gives knitters the opportunity to forge your own path and explore creativity along the way. I hesitated about buying this book, but now I’m so happy to have added it to my Knitting Library!
Happy Knitting!

I am very pleased with this hand tool. I am sewing fifty A3 artist books and my usual tools were not really up to the job. I am able to manage 5 sheets of 200gms paper at a time - there are 46 sheets in each book; it is a labour of love, enjoyable, meditative. I first tried a much cheaper option and returned it, as it could do no more than my awl - one page at a time!
Exactly what I was looking for to punch holes into leather. got the separate 2mm attachment, the puncher is very easy to use and sharp, leaves a very clean hole in the leather. Delivery was speedy too. Overall, very happy with my purchase.
It’s beautiful kit. I’m wondering why I didn’t buy it years ago! I’m half way through and really enjoying it.
Works well and good to hold useful for paper modelling
The paper treat box really is a great treat. I love the Italian paper scissors and the gorgeous Japanese mechanical pencil. The handmade wooden handle awl is of great quality. I have always wanted the metal ruler for cutting and protecting your fingers. Handmade twine and quality papers and tapes The box is great value for money. I also got a gift of Beyond Measure 10 Year Tote and pencil. Thank you so much for those. I highly recommend this box full of goodies.
